BioShock Remastered [PATCHED]

BioShock and BioShock 2 were remastered for the collection, with higher-resolution textures and new effects. The collection adds a director's commentary called Imagining BioShock, featuring the series' creative director Ken Levine and lead artist Shawn Robertson. Players unlock episodes of the commentary by finding new collectible objects added to the remastered BioShock.[7][8] The remastered games run in 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second on Xbox One and Playstation 4.[9]

Blind Squirrel Games, who previously worked with BioShock series developers Irrational Games on BioShock Infinite,[10] assisted series producer 2K Games with development of the remastered collection. 2K decided not to remaster the Windows edition of BioShock Infinite, which already met their graphical standards for the updated console editions when using its highest graphical settings.[9] News of the remastered collection leaked from retailers and trademarks several times in advance of its June 2016 announcement.[11][1]

The collection was released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms in North America on September 13, 2016, and worldwide two days later, on September 15, 2016.[12] The collection was released for Windows on September 15, 2016, and its remastered versions of BioShock and BioShock 2 were given as upgrades for those who owned the original Windows PC editions.[13] A macOS version published by Feral Interactive released on August 22, 2017.[14] Also produced was a limited run of 450 "Ultra Limited Edition" copies of the game which included an art book, reversible poster, and coin.[15] The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 retail release is spread across 2 discs.[16]

On release, players of the Windows versions noted that the remastered versions of the games retained bugs and removed graphic options without tweaking configuration files.[17][18] 2K acknowledged issues with the game,[19] and subsequently released a patch in early October 2016 to address a lack of graphics options, crashes, better monitor support and mouse controls.[20][21]

BioShock received universal acclaim and was particularly praised by critics for its narrative, themes, visual design, setting, and gameplay. It is considered to be one of the greatest video games ever made and a demonstration of video games as an art form. Bioshock was followed by two sequels, BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite, released in 2010 and 2013, respectively. Ports of Bioshock were released for macOS and mobile following its console releases. A remastered version of the game was released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch as part of BioShock: The Collection.

Numerous tensions within the team and from publisher 2K Games continued during the development process. According to LeBreton, Levine was distrustful of some of the more egotistical newer hires and was often arguing with them to enforce his vision of BioShock.[27] 2K Games was concerned with the growing budget for the title, and told Levine to market the title more as a first-person shooter rather than the first-person shooter/role playing game hybrid they set out for.[27] Near the targeted release date, Levine ordered the team into round-the-clock development, creating more strife in the team.[27] Paul Hellquist, the game's lead designer, was often omitted from key design meetings, which he later recounted was due to his contrary nature to Levine, questioning several of his choices; he used his frustration to put into the design efforts for the Medical Pavilion level that he was in charge of at that time.[27] Near the anticipated completion date, 2K decided to give Irrational another three months to polish up the game, extending the current crunch time the studio was already under.[27] This left some hard-to-discover bugs and issues in the game undiscovered. One such case was an apparent Easter egg found in the remastered version in 2018, where under certain conditions, the player can end up looking at an object with the description "Paul Hellquist did not do his Job". Both Levine and Chris Kline, the game's lead programmer confirmed the message was a cheeky jab at Hellquist left as a debugging message; Kline and Hellquist were developing the systems to show descriptions of objects to players when looked at, and Hellquist offered to complete all the necessary descriptions in-game; to jokingly help prod Hellquist along, Kline put "Paul Hellquist did not do his Job" as the default message within the executable code. While the code message was changed for the original release, the remastered version likely used a pre-final version of the BioShock code, according to Kline.[43] Hellquist took the revelation in good humor and tweeted that other Easter eggs should have been added to the game to display, "If you are enjoying this, Paul Hellquist did his job."[44]

BioShock was remastered to support 1080p and higher framerates as part of the 2016 BioShock: The Collection release for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One systems. The remastering was performed by Blind Squirrel Games and published by 2K Games. A standalone version of BioShock Remastered was released for macOS by Feral Interactive on August 22, 2017.[188] The standalone version of the remastered version of BioShock along with The Collection were released on May 29, 2020 on the Nintendo Switch.[189]

Hey, I think you've heard of the bioshock collection launcher problem, here's a launch option that skips the shitty 2k launcher, I found it on protondb eval $( echo "%command%" sed "s/2KLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/Build\/Final\/BioshockHD.exe'/" )

The Museum of Orphaned Concepts is a museum-style level exclusive to the BioShock Ultimate Rapture Edition and the remastered version of BioShock in BioShock: The Collection, containing early concept art and ideas that were removed from the final version of the game. Like the locations from the Challenge Rooms, the museum is not considered canon, but does serve to enrich the BioShock narrative.

Earlier in August, it was announced that a remastered version of the popular first-person shooter BioShock would be arriving on macOS platforms sometime this year. Today, BioShock Remastered has launched for compatible Mac computers on Steam and the online Feral store, and an official version of the remastered game for the Mac App Store is set to debut in the near future.

BioShock Remastered is launching ten years and one day after the original BioShock debuted on Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 on August 21, 2007. For its original release, Irrational Games developed BioShock, while 2K published it, and now the remastered version for Mac is being published by Feral Interactive, which publishes many games for macOS, iOS, and Linux platforms.

The remastered game also includes a wealth of additional content from the original release, as well as DLC added later. The Museum of Orphaned Concepts is a museum-style level that players can walk through to visit early concept art and other ideas that never made it into the final version of BioShock. The game's major DLC, the Challenge Rooms, are also in BioShock Remastered and exist out of the central storyline to offer the player various puzzle and combat challenges.

Bioshock: The Collection landed a few hours ago, which includes 1080p remastered versions of Bioshock and Bioshock 2. I dashed through the opening sequences of the old and new versions of both games to get some comparison screenshots. The change is definitely far more noticeable in Bioshock, especially since the remastered version features an expanded FOV toggle in the options menu (Bioshock 2 Remastered does not). Have a nose through the gallery above to see how the remastered versions of both games look. I've noted which shot each game comes from directly underneath.

Performance-wise, on my GeForce GTX 980 I got around 330 fps with the original Bioshock games, while that dipped to a paltry 200 fps with the remastered version. The only issue I noticed while playing (keep in mind, I didn't play a whole lot) is that after remapping a few keys (C to crouch, really?) in Bioshock Remastered, the menu suddenly showed controller prompts (I didn't have a controller plugged in) and wouldn't let me mouse-click on any options (though I could arrow through them and hit Enter to select). A restart fixed this.

BioShock Remastered is a remastered version of BioShock, plus a developer commentary and the bonus features from the Ultimate Rapture Edition, included with BioShock: The Collection and available for free for those who already had the game on Steam. Go figure.

he has a couple of other fiexes in separte mods like the one that shrinks crosshairs, to be used with his main gui fix mod judging by the comments. is it ok to do that on top of this one? its this ( ) modifies sharedlibrary.swf. i apologize, just trying to make my THIRD playthrough of bioshock perfected : D what do you use to open and edit the swf files?

BioShock: the Collection was finally released earlier this week, and a lot of people are asking the same question: is it worth buying? In order to give people a bit of a better idea on what to expect from the new remastered versions of these three classic games, we've put together a graphical comparison of the original BioShock against the new release.DISCLAIMER: This review is based on the PC version of BioShock: The Collection. While most points discussed can be applied the same tot he console versions, there are some issues present in the PC version that are not necessarily reflected on consoles. 041b061a72
